Selective Hearing |
Ken Pooley talks
about the human trait of Selective Hearing where we only listen
to those things which suit us. He asks the question do we only
listen to only those parts of God's message we want to hear? He
shows that our hearts and ears need to be open to the whole
message of God. |

Isaac - a man dwelling in God's
land |
Stuart Muir tells the story of Isaac who lived around 1780 BC.
Isaac trusted in God and dwelt in the land appointed by God. As
a result, God blessed him with many things including a loving
wife. We likewise can be blessed if we choose to dwell with God. |

Faithfulness and Fidelity |
Mark Lawrie considers the role of faith and fidelity in
relationships. He focuses in particular on marriage and the
difficult subject of adultery. As a example, Mark looks at the
relationship between David and Bathsheba showing that despite
his strong faith David lost his way. This is a warning to all of
us. |

Everything is meaningless but God |
Lawrence Hugo shows that all the things which we gain in life and
all the things we lose in life are meaningless to us. Happiness
is not our ultimate goal in life. The true purpose in life is to
give glory to God. This is our first goal and we will find that
the other things will follow as a result. |

Seeking the face of God |
Philemon Burney looks at the
use of faces in the Bible. When the Bible says that you can see
someone’s face it means you are in their presence. We can’t see
God’s face because we sin. God grieves and is disappointed when
we do the wrong thing. Therefore, we should seek His face and ask for
forgiveness. |

The inner and outer man |
Adrian Dangerfield talks about the inner and outer man. The
outer self (man) is what we present to the world - it is our
personality and our appearance. The inner self (man) is what we
feel in our heart. This is the spiritual and unseen part of us.
The spirit of man / the heart of man / the conscience – these
are all where the treasure is. These are the place where Christ
should dwell in us. Adrian points out that we need to develop
the inner man as opposed to the outer. |

A chosen people |
John Pearce tells us that
those who choose to be baptised become children of God chosen by
Him. There is a great privilege in being a chosen people by God.
For to be chosen by God means you are unique, you have something
to contribute and you are wanted (loved) by God. |
