GOD'S NEW |
 |
WORLD |
| |
PART 3 |
|
Part three
of this article concludes our look at what the future Kingdom of God
will be like.
This current world
is full of people worried about their security and safety. Will there be any relief from
this in God’s New World?
But what
about people’s security? What about their safety? Again, this is
something that won’t worry those present in the New Kingdom, for again,
they knew what to expect as they had read in Isaiah chapter 11 that
social security would not be a issue. This is what the prophet Isaiah
says in those verses.
“The wolf
also shall dwell with the lamb,
The leopard shall lie down with the young goat,
The calf and the young lion and the fatling together;
And a little child shall lead them.
The cow and the bear shall graze;
Their young ones shall lie down together;
And the lion shall eat straw like the ox.
The nursing child shall play by the cobra’s hole,
And the weaned child shall put his hand in the viper’s den.
They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My holy mountain,
For the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD
As the waters cover the sea.1
The
kingdom is a place where there will be security and safety.

There are many people suffering from ill health
across the world. Will people still have these problems in God’s New
World?
The
prophet Isaiah tells us what will happen with sickness. This is
what he said:
The
wilderness and the wasteland shall be glad for them,
And the desert shall rejoice and blossom as the rose;
It shall blossom abundantly and rejoice,
Even with joy and singing.
The glory of Lebanon shall be given to it,
The excellence of Carmel and Sharon.
They shall see the glory of the LORD,
The excellency of our God.
Strengthen the weak hands,
And make firm the feeble knees.
Say to those who are fearful-hearted,
“Be strong, do not fear!
Behold, your God will come with vengeance,
With the recompense of God;
He will come and save you.”
Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened,
And the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.
Then the lame shall leap like a deer,
And the tongue of the dumb sing.
For waters shall burst forth in the wilderness,
And streams in the desert.2
Isaiah
also says this later on:
"No more
shall an infant from there live but a few days,
Nor an old man who has not fulfilled his days;
For the child shall die one hundred years old,
But the sinner being one hundred years old shall be accursed.
They shall build houses and inhabit them;
They shall plant vineyards and eat their fruit.
They shall not build and another inhabit;
They shall not plant and another eat;
For as the days of a tree, so shall be the days of My people,
And My elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands.3
The Bible
speaks of a time when “there shall be no more death”, and when all the
heartbreak of mankind will be healed, because Christ the Life-giver will
be in the earth again.
This does
not mean that all of a sudden everybody will be made immortal, for it is
clear that many of the peoples of the earth during the period of his
Kingdom will still be subject to death, though human life will be
prolonged, so that a person dying at 100 years of age will be considered
a child by comparison with his much older companions. The health-giving
effects of the presence of Jesus in the earth, and the beneficial
influence of his laws, will undoubtedly result in human life being lived
in the most perfect conditions possible, and disease and physical
affliction will be reduced to an absolute minimum.
At the end
of the reign of Christ over the nations, death itself will be finally
and forever abolished, and all those who have lived obediently and
faithfully will join those who have already been redeemed.
Summary of the Kingdom
Think of a
world at peace, its inhabitants healthy and well-fed and doing rewarding
work. Imagine a world in which there is full employment, where people
are not exploited and where a man can live a long and prosperous life; a
world in which famine and pestilence no longer kill one quarter of the
population and where the full resources of the land and the seas are
harvested. Already you are getting a picture of the Kingdom of God.
Now think
about the absence of religious bigotry or sectarian strife; imagine the
benefits of internationally accepted laws, with justice administered by
fair-minded yet uncompromising judges. Visualise a picture in your mind
of life without terrorism and child-abuse; where being good to your
fellow man or woman prevails and evil tendencies are discouraged, where
governments establish good standards of behaviour, and implement just
forms of retribution.
This
picture you have in your mind of all of this is the kingdom of God on
earth!
We know that there will be people accepted by
Jesus and allowed to enter the Kingdom. What is the identity of these
people?
Who are
these people who will be allowed to enter God’s New World?
Who are
these immortal men and women who will be walking around this kingdom in
the future?
They are
the men and women who firstly accepted God as their Father and Jesus as
their saviour by the act of getting baptised. They secondly, then showed
the following characteristics during their current life:
|
Characteristic |
Example |
|
They are the men and
women who have treated others with kindness. |
The Shunammite woman
showed kindness when she saw Elisha travelling regularly
past her house in need of a place to stay. |
|
These are the men and
women who had made real sacrifices.
|
The poor widow made a
real sacrifice when her meagre gift of two mites to the
temple treasury was a greater sacrifice than those of the
rich men. |
|
These are the men and
women who had fully employed their God-given abilities in
the service of God. |
Many skilled craftsmen
and women employed their God-given abilities in creating the
many parts of the tabernacle. |
|
These are the men and
women who spent their time wisely. |
Noah and his family spent
their time wisely preparing for the great flood. |
|
These are the men and
women who have shown that they are effective leaders.
|
Moses showed he
was an effective leader devoting his whole life to leading
the people of Israel towards the promised land. |
|
These men and women
who will be present in the kingdom are the ones who suffered for Jesus. |
Stephen made the
ultimate sacrifice when he died for God under a hail of
stones. The current day believer may not have to necessarily
die for God but he/she may have to suffer for him in various
situations they find themselves in. |
|
These are the men and
women who effectively controlled their behaviour. |
The apostle Paul
was always striving to control his behaviour. |
|
These are the men and
women who have preached to others and brought them to
Christ. |
Various men in
the first century like Peter, Andrew, James and John brought
many to a understanding of God. |
|
These are the men and
women who remained faithful to God and his message in the
Bible. |
Bible characters
like Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph,
Moses, Rahab, Barak, Samson, David and Samuel all did, for
the sake of their God. They all remained faithful. |
|
And lastly, these men and
women present in the kingdom are the ones who kept their
themselves pure and keep their minds focused firmly on what
God requires of them. |
Jesus was the
perfect example. |
Back in
the first century Jesus Christ was crucified. He allowed himself to be
crucified.
There is
only one, central, core reason the Lord Jesus Christ allowed himself to
be crucified and that is because he wants each one of us to be able to
experience that magnificent and exciting kingdom to come. He doesn’t
want any of us to not be there.
And that
is why he gave his life for us. In return, he has asked that each one of
us be baptised and then devote our life to God. If we do that then there is no reason why
we can’t be walking around this kingdom and participating in the full
worship of our God.
To help us
to get to this kingdom we have been given the example of not only Jesus
but also all those other great examples in the Bible of men and women
who have lived through the ages and who will all, God willing, be
walking around that great temple of Ezekiel in the future.
And it
will be this era that these words of Paul (in his first letter to the
Corinthians) will slowly come to pass:
Then
comes the end, when He delivers the kingdom to God the Father, when
He puts an end to all rule and all authority and power. For He must
reign till He has put all enemies under His feet. The last enemy that
will be destroyed is death. For “He has put all things under
His feet.” But when He says “all things are put under Him,”
it is evident that He who put all things under Him is excepted.
Now when all things are made subject to Him, then the Son Himself will
also be subject to Him who put all things under Him, that God may be all
in all.4
